Testimonials

Matty was very good last night in sprints. The difference in six months is massive, more power, faster, better balance. The running coach at Manchester City is teaching exactly the same as you. Big thanks we know who made Matty better (you). Thanks.

I have been in Julie's training group at Stockport Harriers now for 2-3years. Julie has excellent skills and knowledge to work with the individual needs of an athlete.

Julie saw my potential to qualify for the World Duathlon Championship in 2011 and after qualifying to represent Team GB in my age group in the early part of 2011, Julie put together a programme to improve my results. In particular we needed to concentrate on my cycling so that I could be within sight, or closer, to the faster cyclists so that my running skills could be put to good use. Over a period of 7 months Julie nurtured my bike/running transitions, including early morning 'brick-sessions', always making sure that her schedule combined well with my bike/running aspirations.

Julie's task was to work with my previous background in fell-running, cross country and road running, which is all about strength, to help turn me into a more duathlon-based athlete, one who could run/cycle very efficiently over the duathlon sprint distances. Julie’s coaching skills have been paramount in helping me achieve the successful results in duathlon races this year culminating in my Gold Medal win in The World Duathlon Championships in Gijon, Spain in September 2011.

As a thirty something Mum of two I had begun to tackle those few extra pounds by doing a bit of running and swimming. I had recently completed the Manchester Fun Run and was keen to keep up the running. After successfully getting a place in The Great North Run, I thought that I had perhaps bitten off more then I could chew and needed some help! From first meeting Julie I instantly felt reassured by not only her expertise and knowledge but also by her belief me and my ability to train towards my goals. Julie really tailors her sessions to you as a person and shows interest and commitment to ensuring you get to where you want to go. She uses a unique balance of support, encouragement, discipline and fun along the way.
I completed the Great North Run and several weeks later did my second half marathon in a time that was fourteen minutes faster. I have been consistently improving my times week after week in both running and open water swimming events as a result of Julies training. More importantly my fitness, body image and confidence have improved massively; I now am able to compete in the smaller events that I previously thought were only for “real athletes” and not for people like me. In the last six months that I have been trained by Julie I have achieved more than in the last six years training on my own. For 2010 I have set goals of losing a few more pounds, completing the London Marathon and doing my first Triathlon. I know that at times the journey towards these goals will feel like climbing a mountain but with Julie’s tenacity, passion and enthusiasm I’m inspired to keep climbing.

I’d like to say a big ‘thank-you’ for your help and encouragement with my run training in preparation for the World Duathlon Championships held in Spain last week-end.  The schedules you devised for my winter and summer training were tailored perfectly.  Your support was instrumental in enabling me both to qualify for the GB team and be competitive at the World Championships.  I really can’t thank you enough and would recommend your services to anyone.  I finished in 6 place in my age group – a result I could only have dreamed of prior to embarking on the training plans you provided.  So thanks again for all your help.  The result means I’ve automatically qualified for the GB team for next year’s World Championships, so I’ll be using your services again :-)

I'm in my mid-40's and have been running for just over a year.  I've been running with a local group of women and we asked Julie if she could support our training since a few of us enjoy running occasional 5 and 10k races.  Through both group speed work and individual training sessions, Julie's consistent encouragement for us to try our very best has delivered some amazing results.  In just 3 months, Julie has coached and cajoled me into PBs in two 10k races, both of which exceeded my expectations.  Her training schedules have been challenging but realistic and have given me a real sense of achievement whilst also managing to be fun!  In local 5k races, I have succeeded in getting PBs that I had assumed were beyond me and, with Julie's support, I'm sure there are more to come.  Julie is a fantastic trainer - whatever your age or ability she is unfailingly encouraging and she has the capacity to find your potential, even if you didn't know you had it in you.

"I would like to say thank you so much for all your support with my training for the London Marathon, 10k,and 5ks. The nutrition information has helped me so much on how to get the correct vitamins and minerals I have needed through my long training days not just for the marathon but it has been useful for my health in general, you have taught me how to pace my running which at times I found to be very difficult, but with all the correct information you have helped me to become the athlete I am today, and I have learned so much more. Through you I have reached my goals and have achieved many PBS.there have been times when I have had injury's, you have been approachable and patient you have  reassured me, and once again given me the correct advice and exercises to do.Not to mention the motivation you constantly give to your athletes.once again thank you."

I first attended one of Julie's workshops in a group of four of us. She met all our needs, gave us some great strategies to improve and a goody bag!  Since then I have been going to circuit sessions in the park. Although it is hard work it is great fun. Every week is different and it is so much nicer working out in the fresh air amongst the trees rather than being in a sweaty smelly gym!  I am definately feeling more confident now and have a tailor made plan to help me acheive my goal for a faster 10k. Julie is a great coach, very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and encouraging. I would highly recommend her to both beginners and experienced runners.

Julie runs a hard working core circuit session with plenty of variety. She ensures all muscle groups are targeted with maximum effect. A great motivator and a great inspiration.

I've been going to Julie's core training sessions for only 8 weeks but I'm already noticing a big difference.  I've previously suffered from lower back pain and a pulled hamstring, which, despite physiotherapy, were still causing problems.  Julie showed me several exercise which we practised in sessions together and which I then carried on at home.  They have prooved far more succesful in treating my ailments compared to hours of expensive physio!  The sessions are fun and interesting and far better than being stuck in a gym!
